Police Impersonators- Reasons to Fear

Dibor Roberts did not stop because she was afraid the car following her might be that of a police impersonator.

She wanted to get to a lighted area. The Yavapai County Sheriff's officer said he wasn't aware of recent stories in Phoenix AZ about police impersonators. Beyond just Phoenix, police impersonators are a problem. All equipment, decals and uniforms can be purchased online. It is more and more difficult for drivers to know if the "police car" following them is a real police officer. In all cases, police spokespersons say a driver should go to a lighted area for their safety...and that of the officer.

Dibor Roberts was not given that opportunity.
Instead she was convicted of fleeing an officer and resisting arrest. See below for links to stories in Arizona and elsewhere about police impersonators. Then join our effort to get a law passed for "A Woman's Right to Light." Click on this link to go to the petition.
